Robert Durst, focus of the HBO documentary miniseries series The Jinx (its rarely used full title is, after all, The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst), was arrested by FBI agents last Saturday in a New Orleans hotel, one day before the final episode was set to air.
After filmmakers asked Durst about similarities in the handwriting between a letter he wrote and a letter linked to one of the killings he was suspected of (there are three murders that the show examines), Durst walked into a bathroom with his microphone still on and apparently said, “There it is. You’re caught,” and “What the hell did I do? Killed them all, of course.”
Agents who arrested Durst believe he may have wanted to flee the country after discovering he had registered under a fake name, paid with cash, and possessed fake documents.
